JCB Mini Backhoe Loader Wins an Award

February 7, 2013

The Swedish magazine Maskinentreprenören has honored the JCB mono-boom mini loader with an award for successful technology.

The boom’s unique design makes it possible to enter the mini loader’s cab from the side door, whereas in machines from other manufacturers, entry is through the front window. This revolutionary design modification improves ergonomics and safety for the operator.

This is the second year in a row Maskinentreprenören has presented the award. Last year, Volvo front end loaders won the award for the Optishift technology. This year, the award went to JCB mini loaders, despite strong competition. The key criteria for choosing a winner are innovations, advantages and design.

After all elimination rounds, JCB was chosen as the winner. This decision was based on the following: "JCB is receiving the award for its unique mono-boom design, which allows entry and exit from the cab through the left-side door. This revolutionary design modification guarantees high ergonomic effectiveness and safety for the operator. ”

During the economic crisis, JCB’s management decided not to cut back on investments in innovations and development. A project to update the compact mini loader model line was secretly launched at the company’s headquarters in Savannah, Georgia, U.S.A. The new model line was presented in November 2010. Revolutionary modifications resulted in a unique boom design for the mini loader. Now there is no need to risk crossing over attachments to enter the cab through the front window. Emergency exit from the cab is usually made through the rear window, but the design frequently prevents the operator from doing this. In the JCB mini loader, emergency exit is made through the front window. JCB is an innovative company and the boom’s revolutionary design is a perfect example of the new way of thinking. JCB machines deliver high performance and guarantee the operator’s safety.
